VODAFONE Ghana, in partnership with Kwesé, has launched Kwesé Play, a platform that affords users the opportunity to access television (TV) content by connecting a Kwesé digital box to Vodafone’s Broadband service.
The partnership is aimed at giving users an experience of TV without limitations- accessing TV content on any computing device with the use of Vodafone’s broadband package.
At the media launch on October 12 in Accra, the Head of Vodafone Fixed Business, Mr George Abban, said as the largest network providers in terms of fixed Broadband, the company seeks to change the antenna trend of accessing TV content.
“It is time to cut the antenna out of the equation when it comes to watching TV. So with this service we are essentially taking away the antenna and taking away any satellite dish. With a Vodafone connection in your house, all you need to do is to get the Kwesé digital box, connect it and you get TV unlimited.”
He further explained that, Kwesé Play offers limitless excellent TV access. Users do not have to miss all the fun on TV because of rainfall or TV aerial or antenna - an active Broadband account is all they need.
“As long as you have an active broadband account, you get to watch TV and that I think is revolutionary; it removes all the barriers regarding when it rains and the TV goes off and all you get frustrated with, when TV is delivered over aerial and antenna”, he said.
Kwesé Play package
For his part, the Head of Retail at Kwesé, Mr Teddy Denkye, said the Kwesé Play platform provided unlimited access to over 70 different TV channels over IP (Internet).
“In our quest to provide value to our customers, we have entered a unique partnership with Vodafone to come up with a dedicated budget to make streaming less expensive and more enjoyable to customers.”
“So once you buy the box and subscribe, you get one month free Netflix, 12 months iFlix subscription and one month free on Kwesé TV. This means for a whole month, you have over 70 channels on Kwesé TV on your digital box for free”, he said.
The Kwesé Play package comes with a digital box for GH¢ 450 (one month subscription together with free iFLix and Netflix subscriptions). At end of the first month, a user is required to pay GH¢ 165 to continue getting both the TV content and unlimited access on broadband services.
Features of Kwesé Digibox
Talking about the features of the Kwesé Digital box, Mr Denkye said the digital box was tailor-made to suit the trends in technology.
“The digibox is smart, portable, sleek and has serious HD and mirroring, which allows users to access media content on phone to TV. It does not run on Internet only. If you want to watch media from your hard drive, you just have to slot it from behind the box and have access to media content via the hard drive,” Mr Denkye said. — GB
