A LEADERSHIP workshop aimed at inculcating entrepreneurial skills in student leaders in the various tertiary institutions in the country has been held at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

The workshop, organised by Enactus Ghana, brought together student leaders of the various teams of the organisation on university campuses to brainstorm and discuss pragmatic measures that could be adopted to strengthen the activities of the organisation.

Speaking in an interview with the GRAPHIC BUSINESS on the sidelines of the workshop in Accra last Saturday, Country Leader of Enactus Ghana, Nii Bortey Kofi Frankwa II, known in private life as Mr Benjamin Borketey Bortei, noted that every year the team embarked on an educational project that solely tries to solve the economic, social and environmental issues of students, the academia and the business community in the country.

“We are dedicated towards the shaping of value-driven leaders who have the unique combination of character and competence to make a difference in whatever they engage in,” he said.

Mr Bortei said the objective of the workshop was to whip up the enthusiasm of the student membership of the organisation to increase their participation in the various activities lined up for the year, including the Enactus World Cup competition scheduled to take place at the Silicon Valley in California later this year.

The educational project, which is a tripartite structure of students, academia and the business class, also undertakes community outreach projects to develop communities as well for a better social, economic and environment goals to be achieved.

The Programmes Manager of Enactus Ghana, Ms Doreen Avi, advised students to be logical and good problem solvers.

She also urged the public to respect time as time management and project management were the ultimate prizes in achieving milestones not only as individuals but the country at large.

The workshop brought together student leaders on multiple topics which included fundraising for social entrepreneurship, career and professional development, team recruitment and succession as well as project management and Enactus judgeing criterion.

Some participants who spoke to the GRAPHIC BUSINESS expressed satisfaction about the workshop and called for more of such educative programmes to be inculcated in their curriculum.
