The International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) have rescheduled the World Trade Promotion Conference and Awards to be held in Accra this year.

Originally slated for May 27-28, 2020, the event will now be held from October 14-15, 2020.

A media release issued in Accra by the GEPA said the co-hosts took the decision to reschedule the conference following the COVID-19 pandemic globally and guidelines by the World Health Organisation, the Ministry of Health and the Government of Ghana.

Why Ghana?
The GEPA in 2018 won the bid to host the WTPO Conference in partnership with the ITC. The two-day event will address the current trade environment and the uncertainties that might arise, along with outlining what it will take for organisations to adapt and thrive in this context.

Earlier in March this year, the acting Executive Director of the ITC, Geneva, Ms Dorothy Ng’ambi Tembo, visited Ghana  to interact with GEPA to assess its activities to promote the WTO.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GEPA, Dr Afua Asabea Asare, said about 250 representatives from all trade promotion organisations worldwide were expected at the WTPO Conference.

The release added that all registered participants had been confirmed for the new dates while the registration platform remained open.
