Ahead of the third China Trade Week (CTW) Ghana celebration, the International Events Director at the MIE Groups, Mr Zahoor Ahmed, has announced plans by China to expand its bilateral engagements with West Africa.

The decision comes on the back of a successful ‘Belt and Road’ Forum in Beijing which saw 120 Heads of Governments agree to lift the New Silk Road by promoting shared growth and collaboration.

“Following the successful ‘Belt and Road’ Forum in Beijing where Heads of Governments from across the globe agreed to lift the New Silk Road to the next level by promoting shared growth and collaboration among the 120 countries which support the Belt and Road Initiative,” he said at a press conference ahead of the show.

The China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a comprehensive framework for organising multinational economic development and trade.

In furtherance, he noted that CTW Ghana was the logical step to expand trade relations between China and West Africa.

Trade show
Ghana is expected to host the third edition of the annual CTW Ghana trade show from June 19 to June 21 in Accra.

The event will bring together exhibitors to showcase more variety and high-end Chinese manufacturers looking to develop long-term relations with local buyers across Ghana.

The manufacturing companies will cover various industry sectors such as Chemicals, Food and Beverage, Construction Materials, Outdoor Goods, as well as Daily Necessities.

The other sectors include Furniture, PPP, Home Electricals and Electronics, Clothing and Textiles, Television and Satellite, Baby Products and Personal Care.
As a business event, CTW Ghana seeks more to engage the professional buyers in retail, wholesale, distribution and import/export, as well as entrepreneurs who have been thinking about starting trade relations with China.

The trade show will also provide the opportunity for the local business community to meet Chinese manufacturers, develop trade relations and potentially negotiate commercial cooperation.
